Lightening fast Odoo website

The best ecommerce platforms lack a well built ERP system and the best ERP systems lack a well built ecommerce platform. Creating top level combinations seems to be very hard and very rare. At least this is my conclusion after months of investigation.
Odoo is such a well built ERP platform, it's website solution however is nice but it's not the cutting edge web technology you need nowadays to beat competitors. The web.dev performance score of a production ready website is on average a lean 60 out of 100 points.
Luckily there is a solution for this problem. Odoo can be used as a headless ecommerce platform. Practically everything is done with Odoo technology, only the front is different.
At my client GevenHout we chose Vue Storefront as this front solution. Recently an open source connector became available. This new available solution makes it possible to have the best of both worlds.
Vue Storefront is a storefront solution built on Vue JS. The community has some 8000 Github followers. Some 800 websites are built with this platform that are mostly very fast. It has connectors already with Salesforce and some ecommerce platforms like Big Commerce and Shopify.
The recently published connector between Odoo and Vue Storefront is in its early days, but very promising. It uses the OCA supported GraphQL as a technique to connect with Odoo. Although many connectors have to be created, it's a good starting point.
These new technologies finally make it possible to build a potential lightning fast Odoo website fully built with open source code. The following months we built the new website with it. I will tell you about it via this blog.
